IndiGo, India’s fastest growing airline has announced Kathmandu as its fifth international destination on the airline’s growing international network. Commencing on October 28, 2011, the airline will offer daily flight services between New Delhi and Kathmandu at an affordable return fare of INR 4999 or NPR 8063 (All inclusive).
The first 6E-31 flight from New Delhi will fly out from Terminal-3 of the Indira Gandhi International Airport to Kathmandu, offering convenient and hassle free flying options. Both corporate and leisure customers travelling to and fro from Kathmandu will now have the opportunity to experience the matchless on-time performance that IndiGo is synonymous with in the Indian skies.
IndiGo has also recently announced the launch of Dubai, Bangkok, Singapore and Muscat as the other international destinations connecting from New Delhi and Mumbai. IndiGo, India’s second largest airline and fastest growing carrier today announced the launch of eight new direct flights from Lucknow to Mumbai, Delhi and Bangalore, reinforcing its commitment to offer affordable flying options and better connectivity in the region. IndiGo, India’s largest low fare airline will operate special flights to Alexandria, Egypt to evacuate Indians stuck in the region owing to the ongoing unrest in the region. In a move to assist the evacuation process for Indian nationals, 6E will operate special Airbus-320 aircraft on the Delhi- Alexandria route. The aircraft, crew and engineers are on standby. India's largest low fare airline, IndiGo, has been granted international traffic rights, by the Government of India, to operate services from several cities in India to Singapore, Bangkok, Dubai and Muscat during the forthcoming summer schedule.
In a statement, the Company said, “IndiGo is delighted to receive these important traffic rights, and is grateful to the Ministry of Civil Aviation for approving its application in a timely manner. As IndiGo turns five in August 2011, this approval dovetails well into its planning process.
This will hasten the process of Indian carriers taking back some of the market share that has been lost over the past many decades to foreign carriers.
At the same time, this will allow airport operators in India to benefit from the significant investments they have made in developing the airport infrastructure necessary, to meet the growing needs of the traveling public.

India's largest low cost carrier, IndiGo has signed a Memorandum of Understanding for 180 eco-efficient Airbus A320 aircraft of which 150 will be the neo option and 30 will be standard A320s. It is the largest single firm order number for large jets in commercial aviation history, and also makes IndiGo a launch customer for the A320neo. The airplanes are expected to be delivered between 2016 and 2025. Engine selection will be announced by the airline at a later date.
The A320neo, available from 2016, incorporates new more efficient engines and large wing tip devices called Sharklets delivering significant fuel savings of up to 15 percent, which represents savings of over 400,000 USgal of fuel and up to up to 3,600 tonnes of CO2 annually per aircraft. In addition, the A320neo provides a double-digit reduction in NOx emissions and reduced engine noise.

Over 6,800 Airbus A320 Family aircraft have been ordered and over 4,500 delivered to more than 310 customers and operators worldwide, making it the world’s best-selling single-aisle aircraft family. With 99.7% reliability and extended servicing periods, the A320 Family has the lowest operating costs of any single aisle aircraft. The A320neo will have over 95% airframe commonality with the standard A320 Family whilst offering up to 500nm (950 km) more range or two tonnes more payload.
